Leftovers are great for panini recipes. We already discussed the one egg omlet as an ingredient for a breakfast panini and apples in a panini as a snack. Today we will be using left over french toast in a panini. When I make french toast, I usually make either too much or not enough. Well, instead of worrying about it, just make too much and keep the leftovers for panini!
Here’s what you need:
- leftover french toast
- thinly sliced apples
- maple syrup
- butter or margarine
Yup, that simple. Preheat your panini grill and thinly slice your apples if you haven’t already. Layer the apples between 2 slices of french toast. butter one side and place that side down on your grill. Then butter the top side and clost the grill.
In 3 to 5 minutes the french toast will be hot and crispy and the apple should still be cool and crisp. Serve it up with a side of maple syrup. Yum!
Of course you’re not limited to french toast and apples. Get creative, try bananas between pancakes or strawberries between waffles. The possibilities are limitless.
